Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Ga., has been very good to Florida State over the years, and the Seminoles tapped into that pipeline again on Monday afternoon when Lowndes standout H-Back/fullback Gabe Nabers announced he had flipped his commitment from South Florida to Florida State.

Nabers was consistently one of the biggest playmakers for the Vikings this past season. He becomes commitment No. 20 for the Seminoles.

Nabers grew up dreaming of receiving an offer to play for Florida State, and he finally received the good news Sunday night in conversations with defensive coordinator Charles Kelly and head coach Jimbo Fisher. He announced his decision Monday on Twitter.

"Coach Graham called me last night and wanted to see how interested I was, and I told him I would be very interested," Nabers said. "Then Coach Fisher called me today and I accepted the offer and committed to Florida State. That's been my dream to play there ever since I was little. I was very excited, as was my mother."

Nabers is no stranger to the Florida State campus. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound athlete, who could line up at a few different positions at Florida State, spent time working with tight ends coach Tim Brewster at the Fisher camp this summer. He said he enjoyed spending time with the Seminoles' other coaches as well.

"I can do whatever they need -- blocking, catching the ball out of the backfield or as a receiver," he said. "I feel as a blocker I've improved a lot in that area, and that's something I've focused on. FSU likes me a lot as an H-Back, fullback or just athlete. They feel I'm an athlete they can use all over the field."

There probably wasn't an offensive skill position Nabers didn't play for Lowndes County, a perennial Georgia power that produced former Seminole stars Telvin Smith, Greg Reid and others. The Vikings played him at running back, fullback, receiver, tight end and even some quarterback in a "wildcat" scheme.

As a senior, Nabers finished with 17 catches for 173 yards and six touchdowns as a tight end. Nabers will take his official visit to FSU this weekend to get a closer look at campus.

"It is a dream come true for me," Nabers said, adding that his family will make the trip as well. "I can't wait to get over to FSU ... I'm looking forward to seeing everything."
