PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- This spring is somewhat of a new experience for Rivals100 cornerback Stanford Samuels III. Not only is his Flanagan High team coming off of its first state championship, but he is the team's captain and senior leader.

In an interview with Warchant.com during our latest Recruiting Tour Stop in South Florida, Samuels talked about the challenge of assuming that role and also shared his thoughts on the recruiting process.

"It's a big difference," Samuels said. "But it's exciting, too, in seeing what we have to work with this spring with some young guys and how they are progressing. It's just great to be out there.

"With the young guys, they are hungry, so I don't have to do a lot. I feel comfortable with them. I'll play quarterback this year. I'll sacrifice whatever I have to do for my team."

Although he will play some offense this season, Samuels said he is focused on perfecting his skills at cornerback. He currently is rated the No. 7 cornerback in the nation.

"I have to stay focused on every play because I do get lazy at times and I need to make sure I focus hard on my technique," Samuels said. "Make sure I get faster and I'm ready to deliver."

Not much has changed with Samuels' recruiting journey since his four-day visit to Florida State in late March. There are a lot of things that the 6-foot-2, 180-pound corner likes about Florida State, and defensive coordinator Charles Kelly is certainly one of them.
